MEMORY VERSE: “The fruit of the righteous is
a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” – Proverbs 11:30
BIBLE PASSAGE: John 4:5-29 KJV (RCCG
Sunday School STUDENT Manual 28 June 2020)
5 Then cometh he to a city of
Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel
of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being
wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth
hour. CLICK HERE FOR PREVIOUS 21 June Sunday school Students

7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus
saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to
buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it
that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for
the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest
the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou
wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to
draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave
us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? CLICK HERE FOR PREVIOUS 14 June Sunday school Students

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever
drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall
give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in
him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water,
that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and
come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband.
Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou
now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou
art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye
say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour
cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship
the Father. CLICK HERE FOR PREVIOUS 14 June Sunday school Students

22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we
worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true
worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father
seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must
worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias
cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled
that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why
talkest thou with her?
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way
into the city, and saith to the men,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever
I did: is not this the Christ?
INTRODUCTION: Everyone who has received the
gift of salvation should have a desire to share that gift with others (2
Corinthians 5:17-18). We have received something precious because of the
kindness and generosity of other. We ought to be ready to pass it on to others
who have not yet heard or received the good news. The Lord Jesus Christ showed
us this through His encounter the woman by the well in Sychar (John 4:5).

SYCHAR MINISTRY DESCRIBED
The encounter of Jesus with the woman at the well in
Sychar (a city in Samaria) gives us a picture of personal evangelism, otherwise
regarded here as ‘Sychar ministry’. It is simple an attempt on the part of a
Christian to show to another person from the word of God that being a lost and
guilty sinners, he/she needs a Saviour (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23) and that
Christ, the Son of God, is the Saviour that he/she needs (Acts 4:12). Through
personal evangelism, the sinners will be guided on the steps to take in order
for Christ to be his personal Lord and saviour (Prov. 28:13; 1John 1:9; John
3:16; 2Cor. 5:17). The believer to be, would be made to know that the Bible
provides answers to all life probing matters, enquiries, difficulties and
objections he/she may have (John 5:39; 2Tim. 3:16-17; Romans 15:4). CLICK HERE FOR PREVIOUS 14 June Sunday school Students

2. IMPORTANCE AND REQUIREMENT
Personal evangelism is important for the following
reasons:
The Bible support it both by precepts (Psalm 19:7) and by example (John 1:45-46). God desire it and that is why He sent His son to this world (John 3:16) and Christ Himself proved it by example and command (Mark 3:14; Matthew 28:19-20). The early church practiced it (Acts 8:27-35). The present day church needs it for continuity (Romans 10:14). The Bible describes soul winning as being wise (Proverbs 11:30). God places great value on souls (Mark 8:36). It is the reality of eternity (Matthew 13:41-43; Matthew 25:31-34) since the time of life present world, is short (Ephesians 5:14-16; 2Timothy 4:2-5). God greatly honours the personal work of evangelism (Dan. 12:3; Luke 10:17-18).

To carry out personal evangelism, the foremost
requirement is the assurance of one’s salvation (Matthew 7:3-4; John 1:12).
Which must be based on the word of God (1John 1:1-3). The soul winner must
demonstrate genuine love for Christ through absolute obedience to His commands
(John 14:15, 23-25). An adequate knowledge of the word of God (2Timothy 2:15;
Hebrews 4:12), a spirit filled life and godliness also required (Zech. 4:6;
Ephesians 5:18; Romans 12:1-3). Other requirements are courage, strength,
divine wisdom and guidance (Joshua 1:9; Psalm 27:1).
