TOPIC: God Provides

MEMORISE: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1

READ: Genesis 22:7-14 (KJV)

7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

I became the General Overseer of RCCG about 45 years ago. At that time, the total income of the church was less than my monthly salary from the university I resigned from. The church had 39 other members of staff, and after paying them, there was usually nothing left for the General Overseer. As a human being, I turned to God and said,

“Lord, I told You to leave me alone where I was lecturing, after all, I was already pastoring. After collecting my salary, I always deduct money for food and fuel for my car, and the rest goes to Your work. Now, what l am getting from the government is no longer available, and this is the income of the church. What guarantee do I have that I will survive?”

Then, God made me a promise,

“Son, I have only one guarantee to give you; wherever you go, I will be with you.”

Truly, God hasn’t failed me: in 45 years, I have neither borrowed nor begged. Indeed, God provides.

When you see someone who cannot testify to the fact that God provides, it is likely that you have found someone who is stingy, even to God. If you pay attention to my story in the first paragraph, you will see that even when I was a lecturer, almost all my money was given to God. Hence, whenever I am in need, He has never failed me. Luke 6:38 says that it is when you give that it shall be given unto you. The widow of Zarephath understood this, so when God, through Prophet Elijah, asked for her last meal, she gave it. In return, she had more than enough food to last her throughout the famine.

God has been so gracious to many people such that giving Him all their money is not enough to say ‘thank you’ to Him. Despite this, when He asks them for just a little of what they have, they would say ‘no’. Apart from being stingy to God, a lot of them are also stingy to people around them, especially the less privileged. Proverbs 21:13 says:

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be neard.

Beloved, if you want God to provide for you, don’t be stingy to His work, men and women of God, those around you, or the poor. The liberal soul will surely be made fat (Proverbs 11:25).

Action Point

Cultivate the habit of giving to support God’s work, His ministers, and those in need around you.

HYMN 16: 'Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus

1 ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,

Just to take Him at His Word;

Just to rest upon His promise;

Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”

CHORUS

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!

How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!

O for grace to trust Him more!

2 O how sweet to trust in Jesus,

Just to trust His cleansing blood;

Just in simple faith to plunge me

‘Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

3 Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,

Just from sin and self to cease;

Just from Jesus simply taking

Life and rest, and joy and peace.

4 I’m so glad Learned to trust Thee,

Precious Jesus, Saviour, Friend,

And I know that Thou art with me,

Wilt be with me to the end.

TOPIC: There Is Hope

MEMORISE: For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Job 14:7

READ: Psalm 33: 17-22 (KJV)

17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Leviticus 1-4

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

Hopelessness is dangerous; no matter how bad things get, you must never lose hope. In 1 Kings 19:1-8, when things were not going as Elijah expected, he asked God to kill him because he had lost hope. However, in 1 Kings 21:20, Ahab, whom he was running from, said to him,

“Have you found me, my enemy?”

The one who was pursuing Elijah had started running from him.

Beloved, don’t let people tell you that your case is hopeless; they are not your God. They did not bring you this far, and so, they cannot control your future. If they say that it is too late for you, tell them that they do not control time; only God controls times and seasons, and He didn’t bring you this far to abandon you.

Your tomorrow is going to be alright; therefore, you should remain hopeful. My Helper is still alive; He does not change (Hebrews 13:8). He is the Alpha and the Omega, the One who is, was, and is to come. If He has helped me thus far. He will help me until the end.

I have countless testimonies of times when it looked like all hope was lost, but God stepped in and did the impossible. I remember after my wife had undergone three Caesarean Sections, and the doctors said that she must not get pregnant again. However, we were inspired by Luke 1:37 to try again. Throughout her pregnancy, we didn’t see any doctor.

When it was time for her to deliver, she had a prolonged labour, and after three days, I became very afraid. I heard the devil tell me clearly,

“Stupid man, you claim to have a PhD; your wife is going to die tonight, and you will see what her relatives will do to you.”

When I heard that, a holy anger rose up within me, and I said,

“Listen devil, if my wife dies tonight, I will ask the General Superintendent for permission to preach on Sunday, and the first thing I will say is ‘there is nothing my God cannot do.”

Shortly after that, I heard the cry of a baby coming from the maternity ward. My wife was the only one in the ward, so I knew it was our baby.

When God starts something, He finishes it; He doesn’t abandon His children halfway. He is faithful and will see to it that all ends well.

Beloved, never lose hope.

Key Point

Never lose hope.

HYMN 5: Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine!

1  Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;

Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!

Heir of salvation, purchase of God,

Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Chorus:

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Savior all the day long.

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Savior all the day long.

2 Perfect submission, perfect delight,

Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;

Angels descending, bring from above

Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

3 Perfect submission, all is at rest,

I in my Savior am happy and blest;

Watching and waiting, looking above,

Filled with His goodness, lost in His love

TOPIC: Ye Are Gods

MEMORISE: I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. Psalm 82:6

READ: Job 22:28-30 (KJV)

28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

29 When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

30 He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 18:18

The above Bible passage shows how God sees us as His children and the authority He has given to us. It says that we are so powerful that we can decide what happens in heaven. If we bind something on earth, the hosts of heaven will validate it. It is important that we know how powerful we are because Psalm 49:20 says:

Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.

A lot of Christians are perishing because they don’t realise that they are sitting in a place of honour.

Witches and wizards are tormenting children of God who are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6) but acting like helpless chickens because they don’t know who they are.

Jesus said in John 14:12 that you will do the works that He did and even greater. You can do everything that Jesus did in the Scriptures and even more.

In Mark 11:13-14, Jesus cursed a fig tree that appeared fruitful but, upon closer inspection, was barren.

Overnight, the tree withered completely from its roots because the process of divine curses operates from the roots upwards, just like divine blessings.

Furthermore, Jesus said:

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Mark 11:23

Some years ago, during a visit to a state capital in Nigeria, I was told about a tree at the centre of the town that could not be uprooted.

In fact, the state government had to construct a road around the tree because it could not be uprooted.

I stretched my hand towards the tree and declared in the name of the Lord that the tree be cursed.

That very night, a storm hit the town, and by the next morning, the tree had been completely uprooted.

The tree got uprooted because a son of the living God who understands his authority issued a command that had to be obeyed.

You can do the same and even more if you are truly in right standing with God.

Reflection

Are you standing right with God such that you can issue decrees by His word and they will stand?

HYMN 1: All Hail The Pow'r Of Jesus Name

1 All hail the power of Jesus’ name!

Let angels prostrate fall.

Bring forth the royal diadem,

and crown him Lord of all.

Bring forth the royal diadem,

and crown him Lord of all!

2 Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre,

and as they tune it, fall

Before His face Who tunes their choir,

and crown Him Lord of all.

Before His face Who tunes their choir,

and crown Him Lord of all.

3 Crown Him, ye morning stars of light,

Who fixed this floating ball;

Now hail the strength of Israel’s might,

and crown Him Lord of all.

Now hail the strength of Israel’s might,

and crown Him Lord of all.

4 Crown Him, ye martyrs of your God,

Who from His altar call;

Extol the stem of Jesse’s Rod,

and crown Him Lord of all.

Extol the stem of Jesse’s Rod,

and crown Him Lord of all.

5 Ye seed of Israel’s chosen race,

ye ransomed from the fall,

Hail Him who saves you by his grace,

and crown Him Lord of all.

Hail Him who saves you by his grace,

and crown Him Lord of all!

6 Hail Him, ye heirs of David’s line,

Whom David Lord did call,

The God incarnate, Man divine,

and crown Him Lord of all.

The God incarnate, Man divine,

and crown Him Lord of all.

7 Sinners, whose love can ne’er forget

the wormwood and the gall,

Go spread your trophies at His feet,

and crown Him Lord of all.

Go spread your trophies at His feet,

and crown Him Lord of all.

8 Let every tribe and every tongue

before Him prostrate fall,

And shout in universal song,

and crown him Lord of all.

And shout in universal song,

and crown him Lord of all.

TOPIC: Even In The Fire

MEMORISE: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. Job 13:15

READ: Daniel 3:9-25 (KJV)

9 They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.

10 Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:

11 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

12 There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

13 Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.

14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

22 Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flames of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.

25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Exodus 31-34

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

Sometime ago, a lady in one of the RCCG parishes was sacked unjustly from her workplace. Shortly after that, she embarked on a journey, and highway robbers stopped her and took her car away. Days later, while she was trying to cook, her kitchen caught fire. All these occurrences happened within a week. Interestingly, the following Sunday was Thanksgiving Sunday, and she danced and rejoiced more than everyone else.

Everybody stared at her because she was the last person they expected to be dancing like that. However, she told them, “I lost my job, not my salvation. They stole my car, but they didn’t steal my life. My kitchen caught fire, but I am not going to hell. Whatever the devil has tried, I am still here.” That is the testimony of someone who had an intimate relationship with God before challenges came, and He never lets such people down (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

If anyone tells you that you will never face challenges because you are a Christian, that fellow is not telling you the whole truth. Challenges will come, but your response to them will be determined by how much you love God. If a challenge pushes you away from God, then your love is small. Some people confess their undying love for God, singing that they will always follow Him, whether through storms or fires. However, when challenges come, they forget their confession and turn away from Him.

If telling the truth about a situation at work will cost you your job, will you lie to save your job or tell the truth and bear the consequences? You may claim now that you will always tell the truth, but what will really determine what you will do in that situation is your love for God now. Your love for Him must be built from today if you will remain standing in the face of challenges.

In Daniel 3, the three Hebrew boys were confronted with the option to either bow to an idol or be thrown into fire. They chose fire, and that shows real love for God. That love was not cultivated on the day the king gave the command for them to bow; they had been cultivating it long before then.

Beloved, build your love for Christ now. Study your Bible diligently, pray without ceasing, and keep fellowshipping with other Christians so that when the day of adversity comes, your love for God will keep you standing.

Reflection

Can you truly say right now that you love God with all your heart?

HYMN 30: When We Walk With The Lord

1. When we walk with the Lord,

In the light of His word,

What a glory He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will

He abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey!

For there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus,

But to trust and obey.

2. But we never can prove

The delights of His love,

Until all on the altar we lay,

For the favour He shows

And the joy He bestows

Are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]

3. Then in fellowship sweet

We will sit at His feet,

Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,

What He says we will do,

Where He sends we will go,

Never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]
