MEMORISE: Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. Psalm 29:2

READ: Isaiah 48:9-11 (KJV)

9 For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

Yesterday, I discussed how every part of your life was created to give God pleasure. Today, I want to show you that you were also created to give God glory.

In John 9:1-7, the disciples asked Jesus about what was responsible for a blind man’s situation, and He replied that it was not a question of sin but that God’s glory might be revealed. The Lord spat on the ground, made some mud, put it on the blind man’s eyes, and asked him to go and wash. The blind man came back seeing.

Glory belongs to God; He is the Father of glory (Ephesians 1:17). God is very jealous of His glory (Isaiah 42:8), and everything you do must give Him glory. If you try to hinder God from getting glory, He will only use you to get even more glory, as He did with Pharaoh. Even today, God is getting glory from the destruction of Pharaoh and his army because he tried to hinder the Israelites from worshipping and giving God glory (Exodus 15:1-4). Those who try to take God’s glory will bring God’s judgment upon themselves if they don’t repent. When Nebuchadnezzar’s heart was lifted because of his accomplishments, God made him roam the forest for seven years like a wild beast (Daniel 4:28-33). After eating grass like an animal, his understanding returned to him, and he gave God the glory He deserved (Daniel 4:34). It took a terrible experience for Nebuchadnezzar to give all the glory to God – do not be like Him. Always give God the glory that is due to His name. Herod also learnt to give God the glory the hard way.

However, unlike Nebuchadnezzar who got a second chance, he was eaten up by worms until he died because he didn’t give God the glory (Acts 12:20-23).

It is a terrible and fearful thing to fall into the hands of our God, who doesn’t share His glory.

When God does something for you, don’t act like you did it all by yourself; acknowledge Him and give Him the glory. Some men of God have allowed the power God gave them to deceive them into thinking they are very important. Stop stealing God’s show because you are absolutely nothing without Him. When God does anything through you, He does it for His name’s sake. Don’t ever forget that you are what you are by the grace of God. God deserves all the glory, and He must have it all.

Prayer Point

Father, I repent of every time I might have taken credit for the things You have done in my life. I will give You the glory due unto Your name now and always, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 18: Praise To The Lord The Almighty, The King Of Creation

1. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation:

Join the great throng

psaltery, organ and song

sounding in glad adoration.

2. Praise to the Lord,

over all things he gloriously reigneth:

Borne as on eagle-wings, safely his saints, He sustaineth

Has thou not seen

How all thou needest hath been

Granted in what he ordaineth?

3. Praise to the Lord,

Who doth prosper thy way and defend thee;

Surely his goodness and mercy shall ever attend thee;

ponder anew, What the almighty can do

Who with his love doth befriend thee.

4. Praise to the Lord!

O let all that is in me adore him!

All that has breath join with Abraham’s Seed to adore him!

Let the Amen, sum all our praises again;

Now as we worship before him.

TOPIC: But For The Lord

MEMORISE: Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Psalm 124:6

READ: Psalm 124:1-8 (KJV)

1 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;

2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

When I was a lecturer at the University of Ilorin, after my morning lectures, I would leave the campus, go home for lunch, and relax before returning for my evening lectures.

I was also serving as the pastor of the RCCG parish in Ilorin then, so our living room was constantly filled with people.

One afternoon, after eating, I lay on the couch in the living room to rest before returning for my evening lectures.

I closed my eyes so people walking around would think that I was sleeping and not disturb me.

While lying down, someone grabbed my hands and legs and bent as if to kiss me.

Initially, I thought it was my wife, but then I realized that whoever could hold my hands and legs at the same time must be much taller and stronger than her.

I opened my eyes immediately, and the being (I really couldn’t make out what it was) vanished.

I wondered what had just happened as I felt a cold sensation run down my spine. I shook it off and went for my lectures.

While I was on the campus, I started experiencing a terrible stomach ache, which led to severe stooling and vomiting.

On returning home, I had to practically crawl from my car to the bathroom.

Then I asked,

“Lord, why is this happening to me?”

and He responded,

“I just wanted you to get a glimpse of the battles I fight for you that you are not aware of.”

Immediately He said that, the stomach ache, stooling, and vomiting stopped.

You have no idea how much God protects you as you go about your daily activities.

You may think that you go and come safely because you are very careful or because you are a good driver, but believe me, your carefulness or driving skills cannot get you out of an accident that the devil has planned; only God can guarantee your safety.

If you think that you are surrounded by security personnel, what will happen if they face a terror group with more sophisticated weapons than them?

This is why Psalm 127:1 says that the watchman watches in vain if the Lord is not watching over the city.

Beloved, some people have plied the same routes you ply and gotten kidnapped or killed.

Also, the same kind of food you eat is what has caused the death of others.

You should constantly thank God for your safety; you will not be alive without Him (Lamentations 3:22).

Action Point

Today is my birthday; please thank God on my behalf because He truly has been faithful to me.

HYMN 19: Rock Of Ages, Cleft For Me

1 Rock of Ages, cleft for me,

let me hide myself in thee;

let the water and the blood,

from thy wounded side which flowed,

be of sin the double cure;

save from wrath and make me pure.

2 Not the labors of my hands

can fulfill thy law’s demands;

could my zeal no respite know,

could my tears forever flow,

all for sin could not atone;

thou must save, and thou alone.

3 Nothing in my hand I bring,

simply to the cross I cling;

naked, come to thee for dress;

helpless, look to thee for grace;

foul, I to the fountain fly;

wash me, Savior, or I die.

4 While I draw this fleeting breath,

when mine eyes shall close in death,

when I soar to worlds unknown,

see thee on thy judgment throne,

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,

let me hide myself in thee.

TOPIC: Please God

MEMORISE: When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 16:7

READ: 1 Kings 3:3-14 (KJV)

3 And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

4 And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deuteronomy 26-27

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

Anytime you please God, He will do something really amazing for you. In 2 Chronicles 1:6-15, Solomon pleased God. He wasn’t pleasing men or trying to get their approval; he wanted to please the God of wonders.

Today, people are still talking about Solomon because of the great things that God did in his life. God prospered him physically – throughout his life, there was no war because God silenced all his enemies (1 Kings 5:4). God also prospered him mentally and materially – his wisdom and riches were so great that God said that no other king will ever be like him. If you read 1 Kings 3:15-28, you will see an example of how God blessed Solomon.

When you please God in your sowing, He will give you multiple wonders so that long after you are gone, your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will still be reaping from the harvest. I pray that God will open the eyes of your understanding to know that harvest is a wonder; all you need to do is sow in such a manner that pleases God and leave the rest to Him. Very soon, the world will come to you and ask why you are so successful.

When a person’s ways please the Lord, He summons forces on earth, in heaven, and underneath the earth to come to that fellow’s aid. As we read in today’s memory verse, even those who do not like the fellow will have no choice but to bless him or her.

When Isaac asked Esau to prepare him venison so that he could eat and bless him before his death, Jacob brought a delicious meal to him, and Isaac began to rain blessings on him because he enjoyed the food so much. Isaac was so pleased that he blessed Jacob with the dew of heaven, the fatness of the earth, plenty of corn and wine, and the gifts of men (Genesis 27:28-29). If an earthly father can bless his son who pleased him with such blessings, how much more our heavenly Father who owns all silver, gold, and the cattle upon a thousand hills (Haggai 2:8Psalm 50:10)?

When your ways please God, and He blesses you, nobody can hinder your blessings. No human being, demon, witch, or wizard can oppose you when you please God. Abraham was too blessed to be cursed or hindered by any evil power. Beloved, please God in all your ways, and His blessing will rest upon you and your household, in Jesus’ name.

Action Point

Use the word of God as a standard to check if your ways are pleasing Him.

HYMN 30: When We Walk With The Lord

1. When we walk with the Lord,

In the light of His word,

What a glory He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will

He abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey!

For there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus,

But to trust and obey.

2. But we never can prove

The delights of His love,

Until all on the altar we lay,

For the favour He shows

And the joy He bestows

Are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]

3. Then in fellowship sweet

We will sit at His feet,

Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,

What He says we will do,

Where He sends we will go,

Never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]

TOPIC: Understanding Harvests

MEMORISE: While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Genesis 8:22

READ: Mark 4:26-29 (KJV)

26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.

28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deuteronomy 23-25

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

The first thing to understand about harvests is that they ultimately come from God. 1 Corinthians 3:6 says,

“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.”

Also, harvests come in different levels, which Jesus identified as thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and hundredfold (Mark 4:20).

Some Bible scholars believe that a thirtyfold harvest results from giving to the household of faith (Galatians 6:9-10).

When you help a fellow Christian, you are sowing into a soil that will bring forth at least thirtyfold.

When Dorcas was sowing into the lives of the people in her church, she didn’t know that she would reap a harvest of resurrection.

Her seeds were so precious that they sent for Peter to raise her from the dead (Acts 9:36-42).

There are Bible scholars who also believe that you will reap a sixtyfold harvest when you sow to a minister of God (Matthew 10:41).

When you do something for your pastor, and he or she says,

“God bless you,”

your seed will return at least a sixtyfold harvest, just as we see in 1 Kings 17:10-16.

The widow of Zarephath and her son had given up on life before she honoured Elijah with their last meal.

She experienced a massive turnaround, and throughout the grievous famine, her jar of flour never ran out, and her jug of oil never became empty (1 Kings 17:16).

Furthermore, apart from material blessings, when her son died, God brought him back to life (1 Kings 17:17-24).

Some Bible scholars also believe that giving to the high priest will yield a hundredfold harvest.

Hebrews 5:1-4 tells us that the high priest is someone God has chosen to represent men before Him.

The highest spiritual authority God has ordained over you is a representative of Jesus Christ, our Great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16), and if you give to such a fellow, you can rest assured that God will bless you a hundredfold and more in return.

Where and how you sow your seeds play a significant role in determining the level of harvests you can get from God.

You should, however, ensure your sowing is done out of love to honour God and not just because you want a harvest from Him.

God wants you to give cheerfully and sacrificially (2 Corinthians 9:7Mark 12:41-44), and He judges the intent of your heart (1 Samuel 16:7).

I pray that you will experience bountiful blessings as you honour Him with your giving, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Point

Father, I receive a bountiful harvest of every good seed I have sown, in Jesus’ name

HYMN 26: There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing

1 There shall be showers of blessing:

This is the promise of love;

There shall be seasons refreshing,

Sent from the Saviour above.

Refrain:

Showers of blessing,

Showers of blessing we need;

Mercy drops round us are falling,

But for the showers we plead.

2 There shall be showers of blessing,

Precious reviving again;

Over the hills and the valleys,

Sound of abundance of rain.

3 There shall be showers of blessing:

Send them upon us, O Lord!

Grant to us now a refreshing;

Come, and now honour Thy Word.

4 There shall be showers of blessing,

Oh, that to-day they might fall,

Now, as to God, we’re confessing.

Now as on Jesus we call!

TOPIC: The Good Ground

MEMORISE: And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. Mark 4:8

READ: Mark 4:20(KJV)

20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deuteronomy 20-22

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

Today, I will discuss what it means to sow on good ground. Mark 4:20 tells us that the seeds which fell on good ground brought forth a harvest.

This implies that they did not fall by the wayside, they were watered by God, and they were not suffocated by thorns.

For you to sow on good ground and reap bountiful harvests, you must do the following:

1. Honour God with your resources and obey all His principles for financial success. Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10

2. Cheerfully support God’s work financially. Giving towards God’s work can be by supporting a kingdom project, blessing a church, or sowing into the lives of God’s servants. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

3. Give to the poor and the needy. When you stretch out your hands to bless the less privileged, God blesses you in return. Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. Proverbs 19:17, ESV

4. Be generous. Generosity attracts God’s blessings; whatever you give to others, you will receive in multiple folds. Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. Proverbs 11:25

5. Wait for God’s instructions before making financial decisions. When you seek His face before making decisions, He will guide you along the right path, but those who hastily make deals or investments without seeking God get their fingers burnt.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Beloved, if you have been sowing your seeds by the wayside, on stony ground, or among thorns, the good news is that if you change your ways and start living by the principles above, you will experience the harvest that comes from sowing on good ground.

I pray that the Lord will restore all that you may have lost from sowing wrongly, and your seeds will produce great harvests from now, in Jesus’ name.

Reflection

Have you been sowing on good ground?
