RCCG Open Heaven 30 October 2026 Daily Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye – CHILD-LIKE FAITH
Topic: CHILD-LIKE FAITH
Memorise:
And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
— Genesis 15:6 (KJV)
Read: Matthew 18:2-5, Luke 17:5-6 (KJV)
2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
RCCG Open Heavens 30 October 2026 Today Message by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
After I gave my life to Christ, I had a Sunday School teacher, Pastor Aderibigbe, whom God used to teach me about faith. He said that if a boy stands on a storey building and his father, who is on the ground floor, tells him to jump down, the boy will jump. This is because the child has absolute trust in his father and believes that he will catch him when he jumps.
This analogy further illustrates what Jesus said in our Bible reading today about becoming like little children. If a child can have so much faith in an ordinary human being, how much more in God? From that day on, I have been "jumping", and my Father has never allowed me to hit the ground.
I recall a time when I was working as a teacher at a school in Okeigbo, a town in Ondo State, Nigeria. The school took students on an excursion to some places in the Eastern part of Nigeria, and one of the places we visited was the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. We arrived there on a Sunday in time for lunch. We were allowed to enter the dining hall, even though we were not served any food. I looked at the meal each student was served – jollof rice and a half-chicken. I was stunned; a whole chicken had been cut into two pieces, and each student was given one. At that time, the university was only two years old, so all its buildings were shiny and looked very beautiful. I came out of the dining hall, bent down, and picked up a pebble. Then, I said, "Next year, I will come and drop this pebble as a student." That was just an act of faith by a young man. The following year, I became a student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. God saw the faith of a child who picked up a pebble in faith, and He honoured my faith.
My Father in the Lord, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, always taught us that if you say you have faith, then you should act in accordance with your faith. Just as I picked up a pebble then, I want you to do something or declare words today that truly show you believe that God will give you the miracle you are asking Him for. As long as what you are asking for is in accordance with God's will, just jump and trust Him to catch you.
Prayer Point:
Father, I believe in You for (insert what you are believing God for). Please, honour my faith.
Bible in One Year:
Luke 21-22
Hymn: 'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus
Verse 1:
'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
Just to know, "Thus saith the Lord."
Chorus:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
Verse 2:
O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
Just in simple faith to plunge me
'Neath the healing, cleansing flood.
(Chorus)
Verse 3:
Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.
(Chorus)
Verse 4:
I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
(Chorus)
Open Heaven Devotional 30 October 2026 Commentary
Theme: The Burden Bearer honours child-like faith—trust that acts without needing to understand. A child jumps when his father says jump. That is the faith God rewards.
Major Keywords: Child-like faith, trusting without understanding, faith that acts, mustard seed faith, Abraham's belief.
Commentary Summary:
Faith Is Trusting Without Needing to Understand: A child jumps when his father says jump because he trusts him completely. He doesn't calculate the risks. That is the faith God is looking for.
Faith Acts Before It Receives: Daddy picked up a pebble at the University of Nigeria and declared he would return as a student. The next year, he did. Faith is not passive—it acts on God's promise before seeing the fulfillment.
Faith Does Not Limit the Size of the Miracle: Luke 17:6 says faith as small as a mustard seed can uproot a sycamine tree. The power is not in the size of your faith—it is in the size of the God your faith is placed in.
Key Truth: Genesis 15:6 says Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness. Faith honours God, and God honours faith. If God has spoken, jump. Your Father will catch you.
Reference to Theme: This message, CHILD-LIKE FAITH, calls you to trust God with the simplicity and confidence of a child. Stop analyzing. Stop calculating. Stop waiting for certainty. Jump. Your Father is on the ground with His arms open.
Action Steps:
Identify the "Jump" God Is Asking You to Take: What step of faith have you been avoiding? Write it down. Name it.
Act on Your Faith Today: Pick up your own "pebble." Do something tangible that demonstrates you believe God will do what He promised.
Refuse to Be Limited by the Size of Your Faith: Stop waiting until you feel "faithful enough." A mustard seed of real trust in God is enough.
