BIBLE PASSAGE: Acts 8:27-35 KJV (RCCG

27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of

worship,
28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read
Esaias the prophet. CLICK HERE FOR PREVIOUS 28 June Sunday school Students

29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join
thyself to this chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read
the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 And he said, How can I, except some man should
guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 The place of the scripture which he read was this,
He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his
shearer, so opened he not his mouth: CLICK HERE FOR PREVIOUS 28 June Sunday school Teachers

33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and
who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray
thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same
scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
INTRODUCTION: Having understood the
“Sychar Ministry” as personal evangelism, involving the believer and a person
in need of salvation, it is important to know who the subject is, how to
approach him/her and the caution to exercise. Luke 19:1-5, John 3:1-5. Surely,
there are rewards for soul winners.
LESSON OUTLINES
1. APPROACH THE SUBJECTS:
The subjects of personal
evangelism consist of all human beings. However, for the purpose of
convenience, they will be categorised as follows: CLICK HERE FOR PREVIOUS 14 June Sunday school Students
Manual
i. The
Careless: These are people commonly found in the society having business life, homes
and their pleasures as their limited fields of operation (Luke 12:19). God is
never in their thoughts or agenda (Psalms 10:4)
ii. The Deceived: These are victims of false doctrines/prophets (1 Tim. 4:1; Jeremiah 14:14; Matt. 24:11, 24)
iii. The
Objectors: These
categories of people question the authority of the Bible and announce that it
is full of contradictions. They usually oppose the truth (Acts 13:8; 18:6; 2
Tim. 3:8)
iv. The Skeptics and Atheists: The skeptics are in doubt of the existence of God and the authenticity of the Bible, while the atheists, foolishly and flatly deny the existence of God (Job 21:15; Psalms 14:1)
v. The Excusers: These highlight circumstances surrounding their failure to do what they know they ought to have done (Gen. 3:10-13; Luke 14:18-20) CLICK HERE FOR PREVIOUS 21 June Sunday school Students Manual
vi. The Heathen: These are completely
ignorant of the living God l, His word, the Lord Jesus Christ or His Gospel
(Acts 17:23)
vii. The Anxious: These are people who have a conviction of their sins and the need for help, but do not know how to go about it (Acts 2:37, 8:30-31, 16:30)
viii. The Backsliders: These were once joyous Christians who are now miserable because they have lost the joy and possibly the assurance of their salvation (Psalms 137:1-4; Prov. 14:14a; Heb 6:4-6)
ix. The Discouraged Christians: These are Christians who have lost their confidence in the Lord, due to the adversities of life- failure in business, ill health, bereavement in the family or any other trial (Prov. 24:10)
ii. The Deceived: These are victims of false doctrines/prophets (1 Tim. 4:1; Jeremiah 14:14; Matt. 24:11, 24)
iv. The Skeptics and Atheists: The skeptics are in doubt of the existence of God and the authenticity of the Bible, while the atheists, foolishly and flatly deny the existence of God (Job 21:15; Psalms 14:1)

No two individuals are exactly the same. It follows,
therefore, that the approaches to personal evangelism will be vary according to
individual differences and the leading of the Holy Spirit
Some people may be reached through their zeal (Acts
9:4-6), intellectual ability (Acts 8:27-30; John 3:1-3, 10), inquisitiveness
(Luke 19:1-5); an appeal to the conscience (Acts 16:27-31)
2. CAUTION AND REWARDS
In personal evangelism, the soul winner must beware of
the following pitfalls:
Avoid advertising self (John 3:30); avoid dealing with
more that one person at a time. (John 3:1-4); be moderate in appearance. (Phil.
4:5); allow for a two-way communication and watch against monopolizing the
conversation (John 4:7:26); dealing cautiously with those of opposite sex (1
Cor. 10:12); do not be drawn into argument unnecessarily (2 Tim. 2:23); do not
impose your experience of salvation (Acts 15:1); and avoid over familiarity. CLICK HERE FOR PREVIOUS 14 June Sunday school Teachers

The rewards for soul winning are clearly stated in the
Bible. Soul winning produces overflowing joy for the soul winner (Luke
20:17-20). The soul winner shines as a star (Daniel 12:3). There is crown of
rejoicing (1 Thess. 2:19).
CONCLUSION:
Soul winning is the heart beat of God (Ezekiel 33:11). Be an Ardent soul winner!
