TOPIC: Fear God Alone 1

MEMORISE: For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: Romans 13:3

READ: Acts 12:1-11 (KJV)

1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 107-111

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

The Bible says clearly in today’s memory verse that if you do the right things, you should not be afraid of the government or their agencies.

For instance, when a driver becomes afraid on seeing a traffic official, it is most likely that he or she has done something critical or committed a traffic offence. If you fidget when you learn that tax officials are coming to meet you, it probably means that you have been robbing the government, and Jesus said in Matthew 22:21 that you should give to Ceasar (the government) what belongs to Ceasar.

Rather than being afraid, why not just do the right thing? Stay in the right and do good so that you will never be afraid of government officials.

In certain regions, some people are afraid of government officials, not because they are guilty of any wrongdoing, but because of racism or oppression. If a government official decides to use his or her authority to terrorise you, don’t be afraid of such a person. Rather, take the matter to God, and He will fight for you. You must, however, have built a culture of depending on God before trouble comes.

Many years ago, I heard that the military government that was ruling my country at the time was planning to arrest me because the head of the government was told by his spiritualists that my prayers were hindering their selfcentred agenda for the country.

At first, I was afraid, but that night, I handed the matter over to God, and in less than one week, the government official who wanted to kill me was dead. If you fear God and always do the right things, He will fight for you.

In Daniel 3:16, the three Hebrew boys defied the evil order of the king, and God protected them from his wrath. God protected them because they chose to fear Him and not man.

When Herod began to terrorise the church, killing James and imprisoning Peter, the Christians began to pray without ceasing.

Their prayers worked great wonders; Peter was freed miraculously on the eve of the day he was to be executed, and Herod was later eaten by worms (Acts 12:1-23).

Beloved, please stay away from anything that will put you in a position of being afraid of the government. However, if you have not done anything wrong and a government official decides to terrorise you for whatever reason, simply hand him or her over to God, and He will surely protect you.

Key Point

As long as you fear God and keep doing the right things, you don’t have to fear any other person, organization, or government.

HYMN 19: Rock Of Ages, Cleft For Me

1 Rock of Ages, cleft for me,

let me hide myself in thee;

let the water and the blood,

from thy wounded side which flowed,

be of sin the double cure;

save from wrath and make me pure.

2 Not the labors of my hands

can fulfill thy law’s demands;

could my zeal no respite know,

could my tears forever flow,

all for sin could not atone;

thou must save, and thou alone.

3 Nothing in my hand I bring,

simply to the cross I cling;

naked, come to thee for dress;

helpless, look to thee for grace;

foul, I to the fountain fly;

wash me, Savior, or I die.

4 While I draw this fleeting breath,

when mine eyes shall close in death,

when I soar to worlds unknown,

see thee on thy judgment throne,

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,

let me hide myself in thee.

MEMORISE: And I will I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do l love. Psalms 119:113

READ: Daniel 2:20-23(KJV)

20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

23 I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 89-94

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

In my travels around the world to preach the gospel, I have discovered that not all presidents are the same. I once visited a small country where the total number of policemen in the country was twenty. That nation is recognized by the United Nations, so when nations gather at the United Nations General Assembly, the president also shows up. However, you cannot compare that president to the president of a country that has over 40,000 policemen.

In the same way, you cannot compare Jesus to any earthly leader. He is the President of presidents (Revelations 19:16).

Daniel 4:32 says that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men. If you want doors to open to you, you should befriend President Jesus. He has a name that is above every other name, and all things in heaven, on earth, and underneath the earth should bow when His name is mentioned (Philippians 2:9-11). No matter how powerful a president is, if he or she pronounces a curfew, it will only be effective within his or her territory. However, Jesus has influence all over the world, in heaven, and even underneath the earth. You should aim to be so intimate with Him that everywhere you appear, doors will open unto you as though President Jesus Himself is the One who has appeared.

You can become intimate with God by loving His laws. David, the man after God’s heart, said, “O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day” (Psalm 119:97). When you love someone, you will always want to spend time with that person. God’s laws are His principles, and they can be found in His word. As you meditate on them and allow them to fill your heart, you will become more intimate with His person, abilities, and power.

David also said that those who love God’s law have great peace, and nothing shall offend them (Psalm 119:165). If nothing offends you, it means that nothing shakes or moves you.

President Jesus is the Prince of peace, and those who are intimate with Him will always enjoy peace no matter the situations surrounding them. No matter how terrible the economy of a nation gets, those in a president’s household are confident that they will always have something to eat. If this is true for earthly presidents, how much more with President Jesus, who presides over an unshakable kingdom and economy (Hebrews 12:28)?

Key Point

Are you intimate with the President of all presidents?

HYMN 15: Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour

1 Pass me not, O gentle Savior,

Hear my humble cry,

While on others Thou art calling,

Do not pass me by.

Refrain:

Savior, Savior,

Hear my humble cry;

While on others Thou art calling,

Do not pass me by.

2 Let me at a throne of mercy

Find a sweet relief;

Kneeling there in deep contrition,

Help my unbelief. [Refrain]

3 Trusting only in Thy merit,

Would I seek Thy face;

Heal my wounded, broken spirit,

Save me by Thy grace. [Refrain]

4 Thou the Spring of all my comfort,

More than life to me,

Whom have I on earth beside Thee?

Whom in heav’n but Thee? [Refrain]

TOPIC: Divine Restoration

MEMORISE: And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. Joel 2:25

READ: Matthew 12:9-13 (KJV)

9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:

10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 78-80

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

While I was a lecturer at one of the universities in Nigeria, there was a man who was not promoted for 12 years because somebody hid his file. When God was going to restore all this man had lost, the head of his department was changed, and his replacement asked to see the files of all staff in the department. They searched for this man’s file until they dug it out from where it had been hidden.

When his file was opened, they discovered that he should have been promoted at least twice, so they gave him a double promotion. God can restore all the years you seem to have lost. He can reverse the irreversible and bring back the opportunities you missed in the past.

In today’s Bible reading, Jesus entered the temple and found a man with a withered hand. Before Jesus left the temple that day, He ensured that the man’s withered hand received life and was divinely restored. In the name that is above every other name, if there is anything that is withered in your life, it will receive an instant restoration today.

Some Christians’ walk with God can also be described as withered. For example, when a Christian who used to spend hours in God’s presence can hardly spend up to thirty minutes with Him in prayer, such a Christian’s walk with God is withered.

Some Christians could heal the sick and cast out demons in Jesus’ name in the past, but now, they have become victims of sicknesses and demonic oppression. If you are reading this devotional and your walk with God has withered, I pray that you will experience a divine restoration today, in Jesus’ name. The Lord will breathe afresh into you and cause you to experience a greater realm of glory than the former days (Haggai 2:9).

Job said that no matter how badly a tree has been cut, as long as its stump is in the ground and it can perceive the scent of water, there is hope for it (Job 14:7-9). Beloved, since you are still alive to read this today, it means that there is hope for you concerning any withered situation that might exist in your life. All you have to do is submit completely to the Great Restorer and seek His face for help. He will step into your situation and restore all that you might have lost, in Jesus’ name.

Key Point

As long as there is still breath in you, God can fully restore everything you have lost.

HYMN 15: Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour

TOPIC: Words Are Powerful 2

MEMORISE: A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. Proverbs 15:1

READ: Genesis 3:1-13 (KJV)

1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 69-72

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

Indeed, words are very powerful. For example, if you are married, there are certain statements you must never make to your spouse because even after forgiving you, it will take the grace of God for him or her to forget them, and this might affect the marriage for a long time.

For instance, you should never tell your spouse that you regret marrying him or her. You should also never compare your spouse with other people or tag them as enemies of progress. The damage from such statements may be irreparable because the self-esteem of your spouse might have been destroyed. Whenever you are angry, it is better to keep quiet than to say things you will later regret. If you must speak, always ensure that you address the issue at hand and not the person.

The devil always likes to fuel quarrels to make people say things that will negatively affect one or more of the parties involved. Playing the blame game and attacking people verbally only worsens problems.

But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. Galatians 5:15

When people bite and devour each other with wrong and negative words, they usually end up destroying their relationships. Christians must not be ignorant of the devices of the devil so that he doesn’t take advantage of them (2 Corinthians 2:11).

Often, the devil wants relationships to be full of strife so that he can be free to do whatever he wants, and when people say hurtful words to one another, they stir up strife. If you do not want the devil’s involvement in your relationships, you should take out the wood of wrong and negative words whenever there are disagreements because if there is no wood, the fire will go out.

Instead of using harsh words when you have a disagreement with someone, your responses should be soft because a soft answer will always turn away wrath (Proverbs 15:1).

Beloved, if someone close to you has said hurtful words to you in the past, I plead on the person’s behalf that you should forgive him or her. Please don’t let the words bring permanent damage to yourself or your relationship with that fellow. If you are in this situation, I declare your healing today, and if you have lost any God-given relationships, may the Almighty God restore them in the name of Jesus.

Key Point

Never speak harsh and negative words, no matter the provocation.

HYMN 24: I Want To Be Like Jesus

1 Earthly pleasures vainly call me;

I would be like Jesus;

Nothing worldly shall enthrall me,

I would be like Jesus.

Refrain:

Be like Jesus - this my song,

In the home and in the throng;

Be like Jesus, all day long,

I would be like Jesus.

2 He has broken every fetter,

I would be like Jesus;

That my soul may serve Him better,

I would be like Jesus. [Refrain]

3 All the way from earth to glory,

I would be like Jesus;

Telling o’er and o’er the story,

I would be like Jesus. [Refrain]

4 That in heaven He may meet me,

I would be like Jesus;

That His words “Well done” may greet me,

I would be like Jesus. [Refrain]

TOPIC: Peace In A Storm

MEMORISE: Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:1-2

READ: Mark 4:35-41(KJV)

35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 50-55

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

In a storm, there is always so much turmoil, but right in the middle of it is the part called ‘the eye of the storm’, which is usually peaceful and calm. When you are connected to the Almighty God, no matter how much trouble surrounds you, you will always experience peace and calm.

In 1 Kings 17:1, rivers dried up, and people suffered. There was so much hunger in the land, yet God provided for Elijah at all times. At one point, God sent ravens to bring him bread and meat every morning and evening. When the brook dried up, God sent him to a widow to sustain him (1 Kings 17:9).

When you are connected to the King of kings, your experience will always be different from that of others around you. For example, during an economic downturn, when people are anxious about their finances, a child of God will be calm, knowing that his or her economy is in Zion, where the streets are made of gold.

In today’s Bible reading, when Jesus and His disciples were travelling on the sea, a storm arose, but Jesus slept peacefully through it because He is connected to the Father. While the disciples were scared of perishing, He slept like a baby with a pillow (Mark 4:38). Paul also faced a huge storm, and in the midst of it, while the other people on the ship spoke of dying, he spoke of life and deliverance because God sent His angel to assure him of safety (Acts 27:20-25). His connection with God gave him the assurance that nothing evil would befall him.

Beloved, if you are in a storm and you don’t want to be swept away, you must remain connected to God. What can destroy this connection is sin. Isaiah 59:1-2 says that there is always a gap between sinners and God, and even though His arms are everlasting (Deuteronomy 33:27), they cannot reach the sinners.

When people allow sin into their lives, they leave the centre of God’s will where peace and joy reign. When Jonah chose to go to Tarshish in disobedience to God, a storm arose, and he found himself in the belly of a big fish (Jonah 1:1-17).

Sin will always bring a fellow into negative situations, and that is why you must not toy with it at all. Economies and nations will fail, but if you want to keep blossoming and flourishing amidst negative reports, you must shun sin and remain connected to God.

Key Point

Believers who remain connected to God will thrive amidst storms.
